Wow, HUGE Big beats today

Today I have had the worst luck in poker. Never before today have I had worse luck then in the past couple hours. Why? I go all in with AA and 77 calls and gets a 7 on the river. In another tournament I go all in with AA vs. K5, and turn comes out K, river? 5. Now these were both bad, but here's what's worse. Two tournaments in a row. First one I go all in with KK, other guy calls with A9. Flop comes out KAA. There is only one card he can get to beat me, and sure enough he gets quads on the river. But then next tournament? I have AQ, flop goes 57Q and I go all in. A7 calls, and what happens? Turn 7, River 7. Two quads in a row when I had the best hand. Why am I playing so many tournaments? Cause Full Tilt is doing a month of freerolls for buy ins to the world poker championships. So I gotta get in on as many as possible. I got 8th one of them before getting another really unlucky moment. I flopped trips, and he calls with nothing but trips off of the turn and river. Gah. My luck is gone today. Full Tilt hates me.

My Story Part 1

I'm sure many have heard of Chris "Jesus" Ferguson's Freeroll to 100 thousand challange. If you haven't basically he decided to start with 0 dollars and see if he could make it up to 100,000 dollars. I decided to try the same however I started mine before Ferguson did his. Of course he ended up doing it pretty quickly. But now I'll let you know on my progress. When I first started playing poker I started playing at pokerroom.com I started with freerools and eventually I won my first tournament and got 20 dollars. From there I accumulated 275 dollars. But then the legislation was brought up and I couldn't gamble anymore.

Well full tilt poker has money up for americans again. So I started playing with them. Only play money tournaments until i found that they have a tournament which costs 500,000 play money chips and if you win you get between 2 and 5 dollars. I won 2 dollars for getting 15th place and since then have lost most of that in big tournaments. Now I'm at 30 cents, but luckily for me I still have over 1 million in play chips so I just need to keep winning play money tournaments and get in on the 500k tournaments.

I played three tournaments all at the same time today, the first with a total of 315 opponents it was no limit hold em, I finished in 18th to a bad beat on the river, I had the better hand until then. The second was a limit omaha hi/lo game which had 64 people, I finished in 10th place with a bad beat on the river. The third was a 630 person no limit hold em tournament which I finished second in because of a bad beat on the river. Which makes me conclude, that I'm pretty dang good at poker and will only get beaten by a bad beat on the river. I'm proud of myself for doing them all at the same time, that was fun.

So I was able to snag a second when in only one week the whole thing will go down. Lucky me.

Since the last post

Since the last post i've floundered, I got 44th the other day but that's about it. I haven't played as much. :(

The day of Poker

Today I got 4th in a 7card stud hi/lo tournament, then I went to magical science club, came back and got second place in a No Limit tournament. So today I made 22 dollars total, making it 49 dollars for the past 8 days. Best I've done in a no limit game. It was amazing. I'm really an endurance player, and I'm doing awesome.

Introduction

Because I have started playing poker regularly and I figure that everyone doesn't want to see it on my actual blog, I have decided to start a log of my pokerness. This will not just be my winnings and losings, but also my own poker notes and overall poker stuff. For the opening, I am going to say, I was planing on having the title be Thirdmango the Amatuer Poker Player, however, I looked up Amatuer for the spelling but then read the meanings. Here are some of them.

-noun

1. a person who engages in a study, sport, or other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons. Compare professional.

2. an athlete who has never competed for payment or for a monetary prize.

Both of these do not partain to me and poker. Sort of. The first is somewhat me, in that I do play for pleasure, but I have recieved finacial benefit, which also kills number 2, I have competed and won payment or a monetary prize.

So here begins my poker pursuits.
